Third world Africa is a set of small-scale works that focuses on the legacies of colonialism in contemporary Africa, documenting the aftermath in its third world regions, depicting the daily struggles of the people of the third world regions in portraits, depicting what it feels and looks like in that part of the continent.

I used acrylics and oils for their vivid textures, and collage elements to add layers of meaning.
My brushstrokes echo the complexity of feelings, with a touch of futuristic mood.

It was made to depict anguish and disorder, it’s part of a series I’m making which illustrates the third world part of Africa, and what it feels like to be in those parts of the continent, the black background is intended to denote darkness, as the series depicts the Darkside of Africa that has been affected by colonialism and a corrupt system and governance.
