About the artwork
A new Africa, a new vision; futurism are the new elements of my work as I continue to push the image towards envisioning a new Africa. Elegance, style, confidence, and pride are major themes of my vision as I continue to tell the African story, words like art voices and the new faithful are social commentaries common in my use of newsprint, which interplay with the fabrics creating a dynamics that define my mixed media style.
The rebellious pose implies
resistance to the western culture in which they have been caught up for ages, their newfound discovery of their identity shows they yearn for self-pride from their newfound culture as apply my Afro-futuristic vision.
I want the viewer to feel or get a feeling of nostalgia most especially those of African descent, the texture, color, and mixed media are major elements that initiate this wistful affection.
