About the artwork

In my painting titled lost and found in my quest to create a new world for people of the black race, I begin to imagine a world where Africans rule, a world where Africans are kings and queens, a world where we are leaders and rulers, a world where we set the pace, a world where we are seen as royalties. My image depicts a typical African scene with three queens and a king placed right in the middle which creates a center of focus, the subjects are.

Faceless which was my way of depicting loss and identity crisis which has always been a dominant theme in my works.

Identityand lost are the major themes of my work as I try to touch on the issues of crisis identified using newsprint on my canvas which connoted “lost and found”, identity crisis is a period of uncertainty and confusion in a person’s sense of identity becomes insecure, typically due to a change in their expected aims or role in society. “identity crisis is part of the reparation of slavery and colonialism”.
